Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) is a new type of school that brings together the best elements of high school, college and the professional world.
P-TECH enables students to begin their college and professional lives more quickly and with more support than the typical school-to-work pathway. Graduates of P-TECH have the opportunity to earn an associate degree and leave the school with the skills and knowledge they need in order to continue their studies or step seamlessly into competitive jobs in the Information Technology (IT) industry.

P-TECH students will complete high school, earn a college degree and be ready to begin a career by the time they graduate. The length of enrollment is tailored to the learning needs and educational goals of each student.
HIGH SCHOOL
Students take regular
high school courses
required to earn a high
school diploma

Students receive individual support and guidance as they plan their high school years and begin taking
college classes.

Students receive mentoring and internship opportunities to prepare them for college and competitive careers in Information Technology.
COLLEGE
Students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree from CUNY's New York City College of Technology (City Tech)—at no cost.

Students take college courses with college faculty during normal school hours.

Students may continue their studies at City Tech or apply to other four-year colleges upon graduation.
CAREER
Students participate in
real work experiences in
which they learn
teamwork and develop
the skills they'll need for
professional and
personal success.

Students explore various careers through internship, coaching and mentoring opportunities provided by IBM Corporation—a founding partner of the school—as well as other New York-based companies.
P-TECH students will be prepared to begin careers in a range of exciting, competitive jobs in the IT industry.
Every position—from Manufacturing Engineering Technician to Quality Analyst and Software Specialist—requires an IT professional who can perform complex technical tasks, work within a team and solve problems.

Whether designing and testing future products or analyzing defects in software and driving quality improvements for global customers, P-TECH graduates will be helping our world work better. Even students who do not end up in IT careers will have experiences that prepare them for work in a corporate environment.

P-TECH students reflect the dynamic and diverse neighborhoods of New York City. There are no tests to get in. Students of all abilities will be accepted. Special priority is given to students who attend an information session.
WE EXPECT P-TECH STUDENTS TO BE:
Interested in computers, science, and math.
Eager to learn the skills needed to succeed in the highly competitive technology industries of tomorrow.
Curious, dedicated, hands-on learners ready to take on the challenges of school, college, work, and life.
Able to attend a school orientation program during the summer before 9th grade (the length of the program to be determined).
Excited to participate
in extended day and
summer programs.
Willing to learn at major companies in all New York City boroughs.
